Some people believe that if the police force carries guns, it would encourage a higher level of violence in the society. To what extent do you agree or disagree？

Advantage:

There is no doubt that armed police would have a deterrent effect on those who tend to commit crimes. Guns are powerful weapon in cracking down on crimes. For example, in many large cities in China, policeman are required to carry guns to patrol in places with dense crowds.

Disadvantage:

The police force with weapons may have negative impact on public security. The first concern is the abuse of weapons and loopholes of gun control. If the police are encouraged to use guns, it is possible that they may become reckless and misuse their guns. Moreover, in some countries where people can possess guns, armed police may reinforce their gun culture.
